No visible signs of wire chafing under the hood or dash. You were talking about the TCC, I was thinking you might be able to point me in the right direction as to where to look next since the brake pedal definitely has something to do with it.
Like I said, I see no wire damage around the pedal under the dash. Also, I recently got my steering column repaired where the tilt knuckle is supported at the top of the column. The steering wheel was very loose leading up to the first ecm fuse blowing while I was driving, then it sat for a couple weeks before I replaced the fuse and drove it 5 miles to get the column repaired, then 5 miles back. Next day it started blowing fuses left and right.1998 CHEVY PICKUP TRUCK 5.7 KEEPS BLOWING ECM PCM FUSE
I'm not sure if it could be a bad ignition switch, blinker switch, brake light switch, so-on Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Execution time: 0. All times are GMT Pacific. Towed it home and thinking it my be the fuel pump had juice to the coil I started checking fuses and relay. I had no juice to either. When I turned the key on the fuse blew again.
I tried it once more but with the same results. Disconnected fuel pump, relay, fuse and got the same results. I then disconnected the coil and everything under the hood. Still the same results. I even tried removing the ecm and everything else. If this was my '55 I would have fixed it in an hour. I know nothing about this truck.
If anybody can give me an idea of what to do, besides dynamite, I would greatly appreciate it. Lee '98 GMC shortwide. There's obviously a dead short somewhere, finding it is the trick. If your smog pump has been removed, look for the wire from it around the right side pass. That's what was shorting out when my ECM fuse blew on the interstate.
For the life of me I can't figure out how they're related, but there you have it.Parking lamp fuse keeps blowing. I replaced the head light switch, now the fuse doesn't blow any longer, but with the keys off the daytime running lights and dash lights stay on and i have to pull the parking lamp fuse. Any Ideas of where this problem is coming from?

Either you got the wrong switch or the lights need shut off somewhere on the switch. John answered 5 years ago.Nikon d3300 obiektyw 18 55 vr ii czarny
Check for the correct part number for the switch. Make sure the parts place has the year of the truck. Are any wires bare and touching? Proper placement of the wires? Sounds like the problem is in the switch area. Try goi9ng and getting a different switch. Somewhere some Chinese kid didn't build it correctly. LJ answered 4 years ago. I replaced the head light switch, now the fuse doesn't blow any longer, but with the keys off the daytime I have replaced the sockets for the parking lights in front and the circuit boards in the tail lights.
I have also replaced the light switch and still have issues. The lights will come on for a li I have a 94 Chevy k, and my parking light fuse keeps blowing when ever i turn the parking lights on, headlights work fine, I changed the switch, checked bulb sockets everywhere except cluster. I had to have it towed to my house. The ECM-1 Fuse was burnt, so i changed it. However, now when I turn my switch to on the fuse blows. I don't even have to turn the switch far enough to crank the engine and the fuse blows. What could be wrong. Could be the PCM,injectors or wiring. K 04 Silverado EXT. If not look for exposed wires making contact with a ground source or another circuit.
It is a short somewhere. You'll have to get a wiring diagram to trace the related harnesses. It could be an internal short in the computer itself or a broken wire going to ground. The first thing I would do is unplug the computer and turn the key to the on position and see if it still blows a fuse. This will tell you if it is something that is on the computer harness or the computer itself if the fuse does not blow.
If it still blows, then it is something that does not get power on that harness. The gauges failing first may be a clue as tot he culprit, but I am not that familiar with our trucks in that regard.Ignition module failure is no joke because it often leaves you stranded.
The complaint is the engine cranks normally, but does not start. The cause of an ignition control module failure is often associated with age and damage from heat buildup. The correction for this issue becomes the replacement of the failed component.
Here in this brief article we'll talk about three popular generations of control modules known for a high failure rate.
This article focuses on General Motors automobiles from the last 30 years. We start on covering vehicles from the mids and progress through the model year. When I say high and dry I'm talking about a vehicle that cranks around, but will not fire up.
Most of the original modules installed in Chevrolet distributors from the mids through the mids shared the same solid-state design. General Motors designed them to last for the life of the vehicle. However the 4. It's not uncommon the find a Chevrolet Silverado pickup from the early 90s with more thanmiles on the 5. The same can be said for the Chevrolet Blazer or S pickup truck that carries the 4. These engines need ignition modules before they head to the junkyard.
On a technical note, make sure you apply dielectric grease to the heat sink before you install the new part. We have more on that below. These old distributors let air in through the bottom and vent it through the top of the distributor cap. If these become clogged corrosion and heat buildup can cook the new module. In General Motors redesign the ignition module discussed above.
They used it on about 10 years worth of vehicles. With that said, these parts didn't hold up as well or as long as the ignition modules from the previous generation. These parts found their way into the same V-8 and V-6 engines mentioned above.

However, they now call them Vortec motors. Some popular vehicles with high sales figures carried these types of ignition modules. This also includes the pickup trucks and cargo vans. What's interesting about this common ignition module failure is the way it goes out. When the second generation modules go bad the vehicle starts up and runs good until it gets hot.
After the engine cools down the vehicle might restart and run fine until it gets hot again. This cycle happens over and over again until you replace the component. Intermittent malfunctions become hard to find, but the way this module fails is common knowledge around experienced mechanics.
Sidebar: In some cases the Vortec plastic distributor fails before the ignition module. The electronic control module ECM -- also called the powertrain control module PCM or electronic control unit ECU -- is a computer which controls the electronics in an automobile. The ECM 1 is one such computer; it has a fuse is installed to protect the computer from sudden power surges or other component damage -- the fuse will blow before any damage can reach the ECM.
Many component defects can cause your ECM 1 fuse to blow. Although complaints have been reported about the O2 sensor causing the ECM 1 fuse to blow, in reality it is not the O2 sensor causing the problem -- it is the placement of the O2 sensor.
If the wires leading to the O2 sensor rub against the exhaust, it creates a ground; once the O2 sensor is grounded, the fuse to the ECM 1 blows.Rathena commands
The O2 sensor must be installed in a different place to ensure the wires do not short-circuit. Another cause of an ECM 1 fuse consistently blowing is a fuel pump problem. When the fuel pump begins to fail it overheats, causing it to drain more amperage amp ; if the amps exceed the amount of amps the ECM 1 fuse allows, the fuse will blow. Replacing the fuel pump should correct this problem. The ECM 1 operates via voltage sent from the battery. Anytime an electrical wire becomes frayed, burnt or damaged, the wiring leading to the ECM 1 will short-circuit; once a wire short-circuits, a power surge can occur; if the power surge exceeds the ECM 1 fuse's limitations it will blow the fuse.
It is hard to track down a short circuit, but you will have to look at every wire leading to the ECM.
Fuse keeps blowing
It is best to have a qualified technician -- with the tools and devices to narrow down the specific wire causing the short -- work on such fuse problems. The starter is the component that engages the engine when the ignition system is turned on. Voltage from the battery is sent to the starter, which then engages and starts the engine.
If the starter is failing or has failed, voltage can get redirected to the ECM. The voltage or amps surge, causing the ECM 1's fuse to blow. When the starter fails you will hear a clicking noise or the engine will be hard to start.
